So let’s get into it!

Why this helps boost your mood

Okay so I’ve talked a little bit about taking on tasks and starting your day with intention in my post, “3 life hacks to be ‘That Girl’ but I’ll be talking about one specific task today – cleaning.

A clean home obviously has its perks. Everybody appreciates a clean house whether that’s regarding the germ aspect or the aesthetics of a clean home. Or even the smell of a clean home!

A perk people don’t discuss a lot is the mental health aspect of cleaning and maintaining your home. This takes thought, mental and physical effort, care, etc.

To set up your day with the task of cleaning the house, or a specific task that is cleaning the house, is a huge step for some people. Putting our thoughts and worries aside to perform the task at hand can help reduce anxiety. At least it can for me! And finally, completing the task you set out for yourself will boost your mood and self esteem and that turns into positive reinforcement to continue to do this practice.

Your home feels more livable and pleasant after you clean it, it looks better and is something to be proud of, and it can be used to help reduce anxiety and overcome depression. Win win!

So I typically spend a day or two a week performing tasks to keep my home clean and reset for the week. That way you can start your week with a fresh clean slate!

If you’re new to this or don’t like to put one day a week aside for this and want to do it throughout the week, more power to you! I just personally struggle more with these tasks after a long work day and prefer to jam out to music and get it all done in one sitting.

Which leads me to my next topic… tools I use to get through my weekly cleaning reset routine!

The tools I use to make cleaning easier

Waking up and immediately cleaning your house before your brain can come up with excuses will definitely help but there are some gadgets and gizmos that make it a whole lot easier!

Here is the list of things I recommend looking into for your weekly reset.

1. An Echo!

Blasting old 80s hits will always be my favorite way to clean. You can sing and dance along and before you know it, you’re done! I love Amazon because they have good deals on products. This echo is currently 50% off! Take a look now!

2. A Good Vacuum

I’ve had my Hoover vacuum cleaner for 7 years and it’s still doing great! Especially when I vacuum in my cats’ room. It sucks up all the litter they got everywhere in no time!

Unfortunately, I cannot find the link to my vacuum but I am in the market for a new one. I want to retire my old one to just cleaning the cat room or really dirty areas.

So this Eureka vacuum is on my wishlist! It has good reviews, it’s designed for pet families, and has all the attachments needed! Let me know in the comments if you have this vacuum and whether you love it or not!

3. Gadgets to avoid breaking your back

I had a back injury in high school that flares up sometimes and so I try to do my best not to bend over weird to avoid it causing an issue.

These attachments save my life in the bathroom and they’re on sale! And I love the O-Cedar mop because I can use it to clean my walls too!

I’m usually the one who is against getting all the new gadgets and info-mercial type of things but I promise this will save your back when cleaning the tub, shower and walls. Now let’s chat about what my cleaning routine actually is.

The cleaning routine you need!

Okay so long story short, I start by cleaning the kitchen, then the bathrooms and litter boxes, dusting the window sills and blinds and tabletop furniture, vacuuming the whole house, and finally, mopping.

This is the cleaning routine that works for me. My gadgets and music help me get through the cleaning in a timely manner. I recommend checking out the gadgets I use or finding something else that works for you. Amazon usually has good deals but I encourage you to do your research and just try!

As I’ve gotten older with more life and cleaning experience under my belt, I have found ways to save money when it comes to cleaning supplies. So check out my post for money saving tips here!

Happy Cleaning!

xoxo Jen
